The award recognises an individual’s significant contribution to the Institute’s key strategic programs. They are also recognised for work in improving, promoting, and contributing to the positive reputation of the profession.

The President's Award -2025 Winner

Craig Price - Chair, Data Science & AI Practice Committee

Craig Price, Chair of the Data Science & AI Practice Committee since 2022, has been recognised with the President's Award for his exceptional leadership in advancing the Institute's strategic focus on AI and data science. Craig first volunteered for the Institute back in 1999 and since then has worked across various committees. More recently he has been instrumental in launching the Data Science Actuary brand and positioning actuaries at the forefront of AI through advocacy, content creation, and strategic initiatives. His vision has significantly enhanced the Institute's presence in the growing data science field, while his project leadership on the Data & AI workforce mapping initiative continues to shape the profession's future direction. Craig's strategic insights and willingness to go above and beyond have made him an invaluable advocate for the #dodatabetter campaign, creating pathways for actuaries to thrive in emerging technological fields.

The Distinguished Services Award -2025 Winner

Catherine Dube - Disciplinary Scheme Review Committee

Catherine played a pivotal role in enhancing the Institute's disciplinary framework. As Co-Chair of the Disciplinary Scheme Review Committee, she led the first mandatory review of the current Scheme, developed guidance papers, and ensured balanced representation in decision-making bodies. Her leadership creates inclusive environments where all can contribute effectively. Catherine's unique combination of warmth, intelligence and professional rigour has significantly strengthened the integrity of the Institute's professional standards. Through her work on the Disciplinary Scheme, helped align actuarial practice with contemporary community expectations, reinforcing public trust in the profession.

The Distinguished Services Award -2025 Winner

Bruce Watson - Disciplinary Scheme Review Committee

Bruce is recognised for his thorough and consultative leadership as Co-Chair of the Disciplinary Scheme Review Committee. His commitment to professional standards stretches back to the late 1990s across multiple Institute roles. Bruce's work was crucial in ensuring the enhanced Scheme reflects community expectations of professional conduct. The value of Bruce's contribution extends beyond the immediate review outcomes; his methodical approach to establishing the scope and process created a robust framework that will benefit the profession for years to come. His extensive stakeholder engagement with both domestic and international parties has helped position the Institute's professional standards within global best practice, strengthening the reputation of Australian actuaries worldwide.

Martin Mulcare - Professionalism Committee

With 27 years of dedicated service to the actuarial profession, Martin Mulcare has worked extensively across numerous committees, including the Professionalism Committee and Independent Examiners Committee. Martin's dedication to mentoring young actuaries, leading Working Groups, authoring articles and presenting at industry events exemplifies his commitment to developing the profession. His ability to bridge technical expertise with practical business applications has equipped emerging actuaries with essential commercial acumen for sustained career success. Martin also created and continues to curate the I am an Actuary spotlight series, one of our best-read Actuaries Digital series that has been running for many years. The series is another testimony to Martin's dedication, spotlighting student recipients of semester prize winners and highlighting actuarial passion and diverse career paths.

Emily Chong - Risk Management Practice Committee, Data Science and AI Practice Committee, Data Science Education Faculty

Emily's commitment spans across multiple committees and initiatives. She drives innovation by analysing membership data to identify growth opportunities and was instrumental in delivering the Institute's first-ever AI Con event. As a member of the Young Data Analytics Working Group, she makes valuable connections across the profession. Emily's talent for translating complex data insights into strategic action creates tangible growth opportunities for the Institute. Her work bridging traditional actuarial practice with data science opens new career pathways, while her dedication to mentoring graduates demonstrates her commitment to nurturing future talent.

The Spirit of Volunteering Award -2025 Winner

Bianka Grange - Diversity and Inclusion Working Group

From 2022 until early 2025, Bianka served as Co-Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, delivering outstanding results through her genuinely engaged and enthusiastic approach. Rather than managing from the sidelines, she consistently led from the front—setting a strong pace and confidently offering valuable suggestions. Her strategic thinking and collaborative style made a real difference to diversity and inclusion initiatives. Through her leadership of the Associates Edition and valuable contributions to the Associates Advisory Task Force, Bianka significantly enhanced the profile of Associate Actuaries. Her practical recommendations continue to guide the Institute's approach to building a more inclusive actuarial community.

The Spirit of Volunteering Award -2025 Winner

Mudit Gupta - General Insurance Practice Committee

Mudit leads a crucial initiative within the General Insurance Practice Committee on Protecting the Public Interest in Insurance Pricing, a project he personally proposed and champions. His enthusiasm and energy bring together actuaries from across life, health, and general insurance disciplines to explore ideas and debate approaches through events both domestically and internationally. Mudit's leadership fosters valuable cross-specialty collaboration that enriches the profession's approach to pricing ethics. While he recently stepped away from GIPC, he continues to be involved in follow-up activities related to this area. His ongoing volunteer work supports the profession and younger actuaries in this challenging and increasingly topical field.

Clement Peng - Risk Management Practice Committee

As the Risk Management Practice Committee's Communications and Events lead, Clement Peng has proven instrumental in securing high-calibre speakers and organising insightful events covering critical topics, including operational risk and governance frameworks. In his role as the Actuaries Digital Risk Management Editor, Clement helps review and curate risk management articles to enhance readers' knowledge. Drawing from his diverse background in legal and banking sectors, Clement brings unique expertise that enriches the actuarial profession while creating meaningful connections between young members from varied professional backgrounds and the broader Institute community.

The award identifies outstanding contributions made by members who are aged 35 years and under. Applications are judged on the nominee’s commitment to excellence in their chosen field of volunteering, leadership, and determination to advance the profession.

Adam Barrow - Superannuation and Investments Practice Committee

Adam chairs the Member Services Sub-Committee while contributing to multiple committees including the Life Insurance and Retirement Education Faculty. Beginning his volunteer service before achieving Fellowship in 2022, he now serves as an assignment scrutineer, exam scrutineer and guest speaker. Adam authors articles for Actuaries Digital, revitalises SIPC's newsletters and organises Insights sessions. As an ambassador since 2024, he engages effectively with students at educational institutions. His balanced approach to multiple volunteer commitments while advancing his career demonstrates the practical dedication that makes him an emerging leader in the profession.

The Young Volunteer Achievement Award - 2025 Winner

Christine See - Life Insurance Practice Committee

Christine serves as Secretary for both the Life Insurance Practice Committee and Life Insurance, and the Retirement Education Faculty. Her exceptional organisational skills are evident in high-quality minutes and proactive agenda preparation. Though quiet by nature, Christine's behind-the-scenes work significantly enhances committee effectiveness. Her remarkable consistency in managing complex committee operations ensures meetings with packed agendas run smoothly. While not always visible, her organisational excellence extends throughout the committee's work, enabling maximum efficiency. Christine's positive attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibilities make her an essential yet understated force in the Institute's success.
