Global CERA

The global CERA is the internationally recognised Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA) designation, awarded to actuaries who specialise in Enterprise Risk Management.

About Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuaries

CERAs are professionals who combine the educational, ethical and intellectual standards of an actuary with a deeper understanding of risk – and of how to manage it - in complex environments.

Benefits of becoming a CERA:

  • Expanded career options: You’ll show your appetite for senior management and executive roles focused on strategic or broader risk management
  • Cross-industry appeal: You’ll demonstrate transferable risk management skills applicable in diverse sectors beyond traditional actuarial fields
  • International recognition: The designation is acknowledged worldwide, beneficial for those considering global career opportunities.

Why should employers hire a CERA?

  • Confident decision making: CERAs make confident decisions related to complex financial challenges affecting business by applying qualitative and quantitative insights to risk management
  • Holistic view: CERAs add value to enterprise risk management through their rigorous training, making them the best equipped to provide a 360-degree view of an organisation’s risk profile
  • Ethical: As actuaries, CERAs are bound by a code of professional conduct to act with integrity, care and competence
  • Up-to-date strategic knowledge: CERAs are trained through a rigorous multi‐year examination process to identify, measure, and manage risks and opportunities within complex enterprises
  • Real-world modelling: CERAs are equipped to develop models which reflect the real world and can inform strategic decisions.
