Young Actuaries Conference 2026 Organising Committee

Alfie is an actuary and director at management consultancy Simon-Kucher, with experience advising financial services organisations on strategy, pricing and growth. As a member of the Actuaries Institute’s Aged Care Working Group, she is focused on simplifying complex information and designing practical solutions that help people make more informed decisions. 

Chetana is a Director in KPMG’s Actuarial Advanced Analytics team, with experience across the National Security, Defence and Insurance sectors. She is passionate about contributing to the actuarial community and supporting aspiring actuaries as they navigate and progress through their careers. Chetana also has a strong interest in how the actuarial profession is evolving, particularly how actuaries can adapt their skillsets and create impact in an increasingly dynamic and complex environment.

Emily Van is in her final semester of a Master's in Actuarial Science at the University of Melbourne. Her actuarial experience spans three continents: working across valuation and pricing analytics at New York Life in the US, and later led pricing work as an Actuarial Executive at Dai-ichi Life Vietnam. Emily obtained her AIAA credential in July this year and is currently applying her skills as a Project Consultant with the Alfred Foundation in Melbourne. Outside of study, she's always up for a good matcha or trying a new restaurant.

Evelyn is an Actuarial Analyst at Medibank and a member of the Young Actuaries Advisory Board.  She is passionate about using data for good and fostering a supportive actuarial community.

Khubaib is an Actuarial Consultant in KPMG’s Advanced Analytics team, with experience across government and private sectors. He values the strong, supportive actuarial community in Canberra and is passionate about contributing to its continued growth and connection, drawing on his experience organising student society events at university.

Mason is currently an actuarial analyst at Brett & Watson with experience in the general insurance and data analytics sectors. He graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (Advanced) before commencing study towards qualification as a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute. In addition to his professional work, Mason coaches a high school basketball team, where he enjoys mentoring young athletes and helping them develop their skills.

Michael is a Fellow working as a Pricing Analyst at QBE Insurance, in which he plays a key role in tactical pricing and portfolio monitoring work. Prior to QBE, Michael started his career at consulting firm Taylor Fry, in which he developed a foundation in statistical modelling and analytics through working with insurance and government clients. Michael is keen to build the next generation of actuarial thinkers through the Career and Leadership Taskforce, alongside his role as an Education Ambassador with the Institute.

Pramo Samarasinghe is an Actuarial Analyst at MetLife with a strong foundation in data analytics and mortality modelling. She holds a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and a Bachelor of Computing with First Class Honours from the Australian National University (ANU). As an Associate of the Actuaries Institute, she is actively progressing towards her Fellowship. Her Honours research focused on developing a state-based dynamic probabilistic mortality model to improve forecasting and retirement planning for Australians, she continues to work on this research with UNSW. Pramo brings extensive volunteer experience to her roles, having completed over 100 hours of community service with ANU+ and serving as the Director of Finance for United Nations Youth ACT. 

Shea is an Acting Assistant Director in the Data & Actuarial Analytics team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries Australia and an inaugural member of the newly formed Career & Leadership Taskforce. She has actuarial experience across government and consulting, with 5 years’ experience between the two fields. Shea has a strong focus on developing actionable insights to inform policy, using her quantitative actuarial skills combined with stakeholder management to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
