OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM
The actuarial education program in Australia is made up of three parts:
Foundation
Get introduced to actuarial statistics and mathematics, business, finance and economics.
Actuary
Gain technical skills, learn about processes and manage difference of opinion in organisations. Graduate as a qualified actuary and Associate (AIAA) of the Institute.
Fellowship
Add depth and specialisation to your education and train to be a leader in your chosen field. Graduate as a Fellow (FIAA) of the Institute.
YOUR JOURNEY TO QUALIFICATION
To qualify as an actuary, you need to complete both your study and professional experience requirements.
As a Student Member of the Institute, you may enrol in our subjects. You may also have your exemptions granted for subjects you’ve completed if your grades meet the required academic standards.

I took the Data Science Applications (DSA) microcredential in 2023 to obtain a deeper understanding of developments in analytics since I have been directly involved in actuarial work or study. The course was very engaging, and one of the best structured and delivered programmes I have undertaken with the Actuaries Institute over the years. It covers a broad and deep field of knowledge, however the scope of DSA is sufficient to help me avoid some of the hype surrounding this technology, and to contribute to realising its potential within my company.
