Your recent member survey responses gave us valuable insights into how we can better support your professional journey. The new initiatives we're delivering will enhance your professional membership experience.
Professional recognition through your actuarial designation remains at the heart of membership value – the standing and credibility our profession has built over many years.
Beyond this foundation, you've told us clearly what matters most:
With almost 50% of Institute members under 35, the Young Actuaries Program (YAP) Career Support Series has become a cornerstone offering. We delivered four sessions in Sydney and Melbourne this year, covering presentation skills, AI and productivity and having your voice heard at the boardroom table and beyond.
Following your positive feedback, in 2026 we are expanding the program with sessions for those at different stages of their career – extending to mid-career and those wanting to take on board roles. We will continue to offer “watch parties” in addition to our events, allowing members to network locally while viewing sessions alongside their peers.
Register to join our latest events delivered to support young actuaries in coming months, including the YAP QLD End-of-Year Networking , YAP NSW Mini Golf Night and the YAP Conference 2025 , exploring how AI is transforming actuarial practice.
As a member, you can view presentations from recent events, including The Promotion Playbook, Getting Your Voice Heard and AI & Chill to Improve Your Productivity and Presentation Skills.
In 2026, we’re extending our Mentoring Program to offer practical career guidance to all members across business acumen, leadership development and board readiness. We're also introducing a new mutual selection process designed to create more organic matches – both mentors and mentees select partners based on shared interests – making the program mutually beneficial from the start.
Get involved in 2026 with our six-month program. Mentee applications open in January.
The Young Actuaries Advisory Board (YAAB) Coffee Bot , pairs members with young actuarial peers for in-person or virtual 30-minute conversations every 1-3 months, helping you expand your professional circle across different companies, practice areas and career stages.
As actuaries progress in their careers, they're looking to showcase their capabilities as strategic advisors, not just technical experts. Demonstrating value to non-actuarial audiences remains essential.
Get involved with our Beyond Data campaign to help position actuaries where you belong – in boardrooms and C-suites as strategic advisors, not just technical experts. The campaign is already resonating with targeted advertising in the Australian Financial Review and the Australian Institute of Company Directors magazine, reaching decision-makers who need to understand the strategic value you bring. Engage with our LinkedIn content and share it with your networks - your voice amplifies the message to the leaders who need to hear it.
This isn't about promoting the Institute – it's about changing how the market sees you and creating new opportunities for actuaries.
We're working directly with recruiters through a series of one-on-one sessions, educating them about the full breadth of actuarial competencies to open broader opportunities. We're helping them understand that actuarial training produces professionals capable of strategic thinking, risk management and commercial decision-making across any industry.
Our Jobs Board connects you with top employers and we actively engage employers, consultancies and recruiters to bring more opportunities directly to you. We encourage you to use this opportunity, which is currently free, to promote actuarial roles and internships within your own organisation, helping to strengthen our community's talent pipeline.
Women represent approximately 34% of our membership, with many under 35. Our new Women Actuaries Connect+ initiative is delivering more networking and professional connection opportunities. The "+" reflects our inclusive approach - everyone who supports women's advancement in the profession is welcome.
We launched this program in 2025 and we will continue to deliver four events annually in Sydney and Melbourne, with watch parties extending throughout Australia and Asia. This week 2025 Actuary of the Year Iris Lun joined us in Melbourne and in Sydney, Michelle Ng Head of Analytics, and Louise Maher, Corporate Office Leader from Marsh led a leadership conversation. Our Women Actuaries Connect+ events for 2026 will be posted on our What’s on page in the new year.
We continue to strengthen partnerships with key employers to align our offerings with evolving workplace needs. And we're creating a government community network for actuaries in public service to support collaboration and uncover new opportunities. If you’re interested in getting involved, contact Kelly Holcroft , our Member Engagement Manager.
To bring members together regionally and globally, our volunteers are building local activities through watch parties and events – making it easier to collaborate and grow your professional connections wherever you're based. We'll continue working with them to strengthen your local communities.
The Find a Member function – a member-exclusive tool – is invaluable for networking and business development, helping members discover and connect with actuarial expertise across the country. We're committed to enhancing this platform because visibility drives opportunity and strengthens our professional community.
Artificial intelligence represents enormous potential as well as risks that need to be managed. We're looking to provide you with multiple pathways to develop these critical skills.

This program will equip these emerging leaders with essential leadership capabilities and business acumen skills.
This isn't theoretical training – its practical skill development designed to accelerate your transition to even more senior roles. The program focuses on the competencies you've told us matter most: leadership and people management, business strategy and commercial acumen, communication and stakeholder influence and technology applications with a practical focus.
We'll share more news with you through the Bulletin in the coming months, so keep connected.
We're providing thought leadership that helps you shift the conversation – from technical expert to strategic advisor who influences the decisions that really matter.
