Course outline 

The course is a self-paced study program that covers: 

  • Roles and responsibilities of defined benefit actuaries 
  • Legislation and professional and professional guidance 
  • Defined benefit fund design 
  • Actuarial management of a defined benefit fund 
  • Closing defined benefit funds.

Course timings and assessment 

  • You can enrol in the course at any time.  
  • You’ll have six months to complete the course which is expected to take approximately 40 hours.  
  • This includes successful completion of a quiz and reflection for each chapter, and a final written assessment. 

Certificate 

A certificate will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the assessments within the 6-month period. 

Course enrolment without completing the required tasks will not entitle the student to the Certificate. This may be suitable for those who want a high-level overview of defined benefit funds but do not require any evidence of competency.
