Non-award study
Non-award study is study at an accredited university that does not count towards a university qualification, like a degree or diploma. By undertaking non-award study with an accredited university, you can complete individual Foundation Program and Actuary Program subjects, making you eligible to pursue the remaining subjects with us.

Who should explore non-award study?
You can complete non-award study with an accredited university if:
- You didn’t successfully receive an exemption after completing your accredited degree
- You have not completed certain subjects during your allied university studies.
How to gain missing exemptions for the Foundation Program
If you’re missing exemptions for any subjects across the Actuarial Statistics (CS), Actuarial Mathematics (CM), and Business Finance and Economics (CB) modules, you can:
- Enrol in Foundation subjects with us and sit the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) examinations.
- Enrol in non-award study (single unit enrolment) at one of our accredited universities to complete required subject(s) for the exemption(s).
How to complete Actuary Program subjects via non-award study
You can enrol in non-award study at one of the accredited universities to complete required subject(s) for the exemptions relating to the Actuarial Control Cycle and Data Science Principles.

^Information has been collated from universities, but occasionally circumstances lead to changes in subject offerings. Please ensure you confirm options with the university directly.
*Classes are available online; however examinations must be remotely invigilated at a local educational institution, an embassy, or by a Fellow of an actuarial society (for example the Actuaries Institute). You will need to cover your own invigilation costs, if there are any. It is recommended you speak to the Nominated Accreditation Actuary about your remote invigilation requirements, prior to commencing your studies. This information applies to Victoria University Wellington.
