The Actuaries Institute Australia is the sole professional body for actuaries in Australia. With 5,000+ members, we are committed to promoting and maintaining a high standard of actuarial practice. Australian actuaries are well-regarded around the world and, partly due to the structure of our superannuation and insurance markets, have become world leaders in fields such as defined contribution superannuation and non-traditional areas including big data and enterprise risk management.

Founded in 1895, and reformed in 1998 with a new constitution, the International Actuarial Association (IAA) is the worldwide association of professional actuarial associations, representing approximately 70,000 actuaries in more than 115 countries, with a number of special interest sections for individual actuaries. The IAA exists to encourage the development of a global profession, acknowledged as technically competent and professionally reliable, which will ensure that the public interest is served. The IAA has 73 Full Member Associations and 26 Associate Member Associations.

Vision
The actuarial profession is globally recognised as leading experts in risk and financial security, contributing to the wellbeing of society.

Mission
The mission of the IAA, as the worldwide organisation of actuarial associations, is to:

  • Inform and influence global stakeholders.
