Non-Executive Director & Actuary


Jennifer is a non-executive director and actuary. With more than 25 years of corporate and consulting financial services experience, she is an advocate for the insights actuaries can add to a wide variety of issues. She is Convenor of the Actuaries Institute's working group on Covid19, and a member of the Actuaries Institute's working group on Climate Change. In her spare time she writes her popular actuarial blog  
nicolette  Nicolette Rubinsztein
Non-Executive Director, Zurich

Nicolette is a former President of the Actuaries Institute.  She is also a Non-Executive Director and sits on several wealth management boards spanning superannuation, life insurance, technology and health insurance – UniSuper, OnePath Insurance, Class Limited, SuperEd and CBHS Health Fund. 
Annette King  Annette King
Non-Executive Director, FNZ

Annette is a Non-Executive Director at Swiss Re Australia and New Zealand, the Chair and Co-Founder of Galileo Platforms (an insurtech company) and formerly a Non-Executive Director at FNZ (a wealth technology company). She has been a CEO, CMO and CFO working in wealth management, pensions and life insurance for companies such as Manulife, AXA and Mercer. She has lived and worked in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Annette has previously been President of the Life Insurance Association of Singapore and also Council Member for the Singapore Actuarial Society. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
NEdwards  Naomi Edwards 
Chair, Tasplan Super

Naomi is an actuary and a professional company director.  Following an executive career with Trowbridge Consulting and then Deloitte, Naomi became involved with the wider actuarial fields, including acting as adviser to the Australian Greens on various projects and advising a wide group of environmental organisations. She then embarked on a career as a company director, chairing the listed Australian Ethical Investments and sitting on the boards of funds managers, ASX listed companies and superannuation funds. She is currently Chair of Tasplan Super where she has led the fund through three mergers in the last four years.   She joined the Council of the Actuaries’ Institute from January 2020.
Simone Collins 

Simone Collins – General Insurance Curator

Simone Collins is an actuary with 11 years’ experience in the general insurance industry. She has worked across multiple actuarial disciplines, including as the Appointed Actuary for Youi Insurance. Other roles have included reserving, reinsurance, capital management, pricing and product development. Simone is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and is currently studying a Digital Futures MBA at QUT.  

Timothy Simon Jenkins 

Tim Jenkins – Superannuation Curator

Tim Jenkins is a Partner at Mercer, based in Sydney. He is an experienced superannuation professional, having held senior positions with Mercer, NAB and Rice Warner over a 30-year career.

Tim is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and has worked predominantly in Australia, but also in New Zealand, Asia and the UK. He specialises in providing advice to superannuation trustees and fund promoters.

Tim is a member of the ASFA SuperFunds editorial committee and is the Convenor of the Actuaries Institute’s Superannuation Practice Committee.

 

Barry Rafe – Broader Fields Curator

Barry is a financial services professional with experience as a director, CEO and consultant to significant financial services firms and superannuation funds.

Barry advises organisations and their boards on practices to enhance performance.

Barry is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Barry presents courses on board governance, finance, and strategy for the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rafe Consulting was established in 2010 specifically to help individuals and organisations answer Socrates’ questions “What ought one to do”.

Barry has served on several for-profit and not-for-profit boards. Most recently Barry was President and chair of the Actuaries Institute and was on the board of a large not-for-profit organisation. Barry is currently on the board of a research startup company. 

 

Iris Lun – International Curator

Iris Lun, FIAA, is the Co-founder and Director of 10Life, a trusted digital insurance platform in Hong Kong empowering consumers to get the right coverage. Iris has over 20 years of global insurance experience mainly in Asia Pacific. Prior to starting 10Life, Iris pursued leadership roles at international consulting and life insurance companies covering valuation, pricing, product marketing, risk and strategic business management. Passionate in growing the profile of actuaries globally, Iris currently serves as a Council member of the Actuaries Institute Australia and an Innovation Committee member of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong. 

 

Catherine Robertson-Hodder – Life Curator

Catherine Robertson-Hodder has over 20 years experience in life insurance across Australia and NZ. She is a Director in KPMG’s Actuarial & Financial Risk practice and an Appointed Actuary. She advises life insurers and superannuation funds across pricing and product design, financial reporting, capital management, remediation and risk management.

Prior to her 12 years at KPMG, Catherine worked in corporate roles in Australia and New Zealand.

She is currently a member of the Life Insurance and Wealth Management Committee and the Convenor of the Life Sub-Committee. 

 

Dominic Roe – Data Curator

Dominic Roe is an actuary and Underwriter at Cover-More Group working towards the development of the next generation of travel and related ancillary products. He has been working in General Insurance actuarial and analytics roles for over 15 years including corporate and consulting roles as well as Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Actuarial Science at Bond University. 

Kirsten Armstrong 

Kirsten Armstrong – Health Curator

Kirsten is a Principal of Taylor Fry, helping governments, businesses and the health sector to deliver better health systems and greater social impact. She has experience in more than 25 countries, is a Board Director of disability provider Northcott, and last year was recognised as one of the AFR’s 100 Women of Influence. 

Douglas 

Douglas Isles – Investment and Wealth Curator

An actuary by training, Douglas first joined Platinum in 2003 as an investment analyst, having spent some time at the Commonwealth Bank as a product actuary and, prior to that, as an investment manager at Aegon Asset Management in Edinburgh. Mathematical prowess was not Douglas’ only forte. His gift for communication and his convivial nature soon earned him the additional responsibility of handling presentations to advisers and clients.  Douglas left Platinum in 2008 to relocate to Singapore where he made a significant contribution to developing Standard Chartered Bank’s equity broking business.  Having re-joined Platinum in 2013 as an investment specialist, Douglas now dedicates himself to serving as a bridge between Platinum’s investment team and the financial advisory community. 

 

Paul Caputo – Risk Curator

Paul has over 30 years experience in financial services in both Australia and Asia.  He has worked for several organisations in a variety of roles ranging from Chief Risk Officer for a large Australian based insurer, establishing a start up life company in Asia to Chief Actuary and CFO for several insurers. Most recently he was the head of insurance consulting and technology for Willis Towers Watson in Australia and New Zealand.
