Andrew Currie, Head of Pricing and Data Analytics, WorkCover Queensland

Andrew Currie is currently the Head of Pricing and Data Analytics at WorkCover Queensland. In his current role he manages a team that undertakes a range of analytics from actuarial to data science, including premium setting and design, predictive model design and the implementation and delivery of insights to the business. Andrew also has significant experience in Trustee and Wealth Management roles.

Paul Driessen, Injury Schemes Practice Lead, Taylor Fry

Paul leads the Injury Schemes practice at Taylor Fry, bringing more than 25 years of commercial and public sector actuarial experience to the role. Acknowledging the importance of injury schemes in the lives of people impacted by trauma and sometimes tragedy, his guidance is clear and straightforward. Joining Taylor Fry in 2009, Paul advises large insurers, self-insurers and scheme regulators, across workers compensation, CTP and catastrophic injury insurance. He fosters strong relationships with his clients, deepened by a genuine interest in listening to and helping them solve their problems. Paul says: “When I think of actuaries using data for good, I think of our work in injury and disability schemes – working behind the scenes to support these schemes makes an important contribution to society.” He has also developed and conducted training programs for analysts and supervisors at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, and is a regular speaker to industry and actuarial professionals. Previously, Paul was direct insurance head actuary at IAG and a consultant at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin in Australia and the United States.

Ben Edwards, Executive Manager, Quantium

Ben has worked within the injury and disability industry for almost 20 years, first as part of PwC’s actuarial team and over the past 10 years as part of Quantium, where he leads Quantium’s personal injury capability. Ben was a member of the organising committee for the both the 2019 and 2021 Injury and Disability Scheme Seminars. 

David Gregory, Senior Manager Portfolio Performance, Personal Injury Division, Allianz

David has been in the Personal Injury Portfolio Performance team since joining Allianz in late 2014. He has been the actuarial manager for the Underwritten business, but now focuses on the Managed Fund and Long Tail claims operations. Prior to joining Allianz, David was an actuarial consultant at Finity Consulting. 

Raj Kanhai, Principal, Finity

Raj is an experienced senior insurance manager and lawyer who specialises in insurance regulation, claims strategy and operations. He has worked in senior operational management roles in the general and life insurance industry for over 20 years. He is a Principal and management consultant at Finity while also leading the CTP practice.

Jessica Lilley, Senior Actuary, National Disability Insurance Agency

Jessica Lilley is a Senior Actuary at the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), leading a team of over 75 actuaries and analysts to provide advice and insights to the NDIA Board, senior leadership and government. With over 15 years of experience in general insurance and the disability sector, she has helped to support the establishment of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, first at PwC and then with the NDIA since 2014. In her current role, her focus is on understanding the impacts of reform on the long-term sustainability of the Scheme.  

Gavin Moore, Actuary and Executive Manager, Quantium

Gavin is a qualified actuary with over 20 years experience in advising accident compensation schemes, government insurance funds and general insurers on issues relating to reserving, pricing, portfolio monitoring and capital management. He regularly presents to Boards and senior executives, translating technical concepts into actionable evidence based insights to inform decision making. Gavin is passionate about working on societally relevant issues and developing the people he works with.

Khar Mun Tang, Director, Scyne

Khar Mun “KM” Tang is a Director at Scyne and a qualified Actuary with over ten years of experience working with injury schemes and government insurers across Australia. He has provided actuarial support on a broad range of strategic and technical matters, including reserving, pricing, legislative reform, and agent remuneration. He’s passionate about making complex modelling clear and useful to support confident, evidence-based decisions.

Vivian Tse, Partner, EY

Vivian is a Partner at EY and has 20 years of experience in general insurance and injury schemes.  During that time, Vivian has been heavily involved in scheme reviews and change processes in multiple jurisdictions, covering regulatory considerations, premium system design as well as the claims side.  She is passionate about initiatives and opportunities that improve outcomes for injured people and the community.
