Supporting young actuaries

What is the purpose of the Young Actuaries Advisory Board?

The Young Actuaries Advisory Board (YAAB) acts as a forum for the Actuaries Institute Board to hear directly from young members. It offers a platform for young actuaries to network, develop their careers, and shape the future of the profession through events, workshops, and initiatives.

Responsibilities of the Young Actuaries Advisory Board

The YAAB aims to:

  • Be the collective voice of young members in the profession to assist the Institute, Council and relevant committees in understanding the opinions, concerns and issues regarding young members, including education matters and representation.
  • Develop and help implement a communications strategy to engage young people and primarily young members on Institute services and volunteer involvement, as well as education and career pathways to new entrants to the profession.
  • Coordinate an events program across the regional Young Actuaries Program (YAP) and annual Young Actuaries Conference (YAC) to ensure sufficient networking and CPD opportunities for young members.
  • Advocate for formal positions for young members in Council, committees and working groups, while encouraging young members to volunteer for Institute volunteer positions.
