Dr Chelsea Wise is Head of Forward Deployed Data Science at Hyper Anna, one of the fastest growing startups in the AI and data science space. With over 1​4​ years of experience helping blue chip clients use data and analytics, a PhD in Marketing and an award winning lecturer and author, Chelsea played a significant role leading the delivery of Quantium CheckOut®, a SaaS product developed to provide a rich understanding of shopper behaviour for Australia's largest supermarket Woolworths. Passionate about working across technical and non-technical teams and coaching data scientists wanting a commercial edge, Chelsea has worked across ​Consulting, Financial Services, ​Retail, FMCG,​​ Media and Research industries.

Ashish Ahluwalia
Principal
Finity Consulting

Ashish is a Principal at Finity Consulting, based in Sydney. Ashish started out his career as a General and Health Insurance Actuary, working on a range of technical and strategic projects. His more recent work has been focused around building up Finity’s analytics capability outside of insurance, the company’s data partnerships and leading the development of Finity’s customer segmentation data products.

Bill Konstantinidis
            

Bill Konstantinidis
BEc, FIAA, MBA(Exec)

Bill has extensive experience within the general insurance area. He is currently General Manager Product at Covermore where he looks after the product, underwriting and actuarial teams of the company for travel insurance. He was previously Executive Manager Pricing Commercial Customer at Suncorp within the Chief Data Office (where he managed a large team of actuaries and analysts covering valuation, pricing and analysis of a wide range of general insurance products across the Suncorp Group), having held other Executive Manager positions with Suncorp prior to that. He has also held Chief Underwriting Officer/Executive Manager roles with Allianz Global Assistance, RACQ Insurance and CUNA Mutual. In 2011 he was President of the Queensland Branch of ANZIIF (Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance).

Julia Lessing
Director
Guardian Actuarial

Julia Lessing is currently the Director of Guardian Actuarial, an actuarial consulting firm that provides specialist analysis to support and inform planning and delivery of human services. Julia is a qualified actuary (FIAA) with more than a decade of consulting experience. After starting her actuarial career consulting to life insurance and wealth management clients, she has extended her actuarial consulting skills to focus on human and social services clients, such as state government agencies responsible for helping our community’s most vulnerable people.

Julia is skilled in managing large projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines. Her passion for human services stems from her desire to support and contribute to her local community. Julia’s long history of volunteer work ranges from being a Lifeline Telephone Crisis Supporter to promoting the actuarial profession to high school students.

Julia is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University. .

Mark Henderson is the Chief Financial Officer of Zurich's Life and Investments Australian business, and has been in that role since April 2015.

He joined Zurich in 2006 and held various positions in finance including Appointed Actuary and Regional Chief Life Actuary of Zurich Asia Pacific


            

Solai Valliappan
Business Adviser

Solai is an adviser for startup companies specialising in Finance, Data Analytics, Strategy and Risk Management. Previously she has had actuarial and non-traditional roles in general insurance and has also been an editor of the Actuaries Magazine from 2012-2015. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary.


            

Geoff Atkins
Principal
Finity Consulting

Geoff Atkins has been consulting in General Insurance since 1984. He is a principal at Finity Consulting, the specialist insurance and actuarial consulting firm. Geoff's experience covers a wide range of workers compensation and motor injury schemes in Australia and NZ. He recently co-authored the Actuaries Institute's Green Paper on Mental Health and Insurance.


            

Dr. Hugh Miller
Principal
Taylor Fry

Hugh Miller is a formerly-young actuary at Taylor Fry, where he has worked for the past decade. During that time he has been involved in a wide variety of projects across general insurance, injury schemes and increasingly the social sector. He has worked on many projects across welfare, housing, disability services and child protection, using data and models to improve programs that help those in need of support.


            

Meng Yuan
Actuary and Director

National Disability Insurance Agency

Meng is an Actuary with ten years of consulting, corporate and government sector experience. She began her career as an actuarial consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where she practised traditional actuarial techniques across a range of general insurance portfolios, consulting to a variety of clients. Upon qualifying as an Actuary in 2012, Meng relocated to Dublin where she joined American International Group (AIG) as a general insurance Actuary. Being part of a small team in Ireland, she gained a thorough understanding of the Irish business, and provided actuarial advice to management to assist with their decision making. In her current role as a Director at the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Meng is passionate about applying her actuarial skills in a social policy context, and is proud to be a part of a ground breaking scheme aimed at bettering the lives of people with a disability.

 


            

Stephanie Wong
Manager of Business Risk Modelling, Corporate Actuarial
Suncorp Group

Stephanie is a Manager in Suncorp’s Corporate Actuarial team with experience across general insurance and life insurance in pricing, natural hazards modelling, capital modelling and experience analysis.  She is the secretary of the Actuaries Institute’s Climate Change Working Group and has co-authored papers on climate change impacts and climate risk management for financial institutions.
