Organising Committee



Timothy Lam, KPMG

Timothy Lam is a consultant within KPMG’s Actuarial and Financial Risk Team, with experience mostly in life insurance and superannuation. He has keen interests in the development of retirement income products and policies as well as career and professional development opportunities for delegates. At the Actuaries Institute, he is part of the Young Actuaries Program committee and the Young Actuarial Professionals Conference organising committee for the past two years.


Jenny Lyon, SKL 

Jenny was the 2017 President of the Actuaries Institute. She is a Director of SKL, a specialist actuarial recruitment firm. She has over 20 years’ experience advising and recruiting actuaries in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia.


Angela Poon

Angela is an FIAA with over five years’ experience in the general insurance industry, focusing particularly on accident compensation. She is passionate about using her actuarial capabilities in creating social impact and is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact. She is also part of the Actuarial Hackathon Organising Committee of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

  Claire White, Finity

Claire White has eight years’ experience at Finity Consulting and has been a qualified Actuary since 2014. She specialises in long tail classes including workers compensation, motor accident compensation, asbestos and disability schemes. Claire is especially passionate about schemes that help people with lifelong injuries and serious disabilities and is excited about the expanding role actuaries now have in contributing to positive social outcomes. 

Claire is an advocate for young actuaries and their career development and encourages young actuaries to look for opportunities to collaborate with other (non actuarial) professionals.


Christine Liu, AMP

Christine is an actuarial analyst at AMP Mature and WM Valuation team. Her previous roles include underwriter at Zurich Australia and pricing analyst at MLC Life Insurance. Volunteering in the Social Committee serves her purpose of utilising her best skills and ability to make a positive impact on the industry.


Sid Jian, Allianz

Sid Jain is a Senior Actuarial Analyst in the Casualty team at Allianz Australia. His work involves pricing for commercial long tail portfolios – public/product liability and professional indemnity. Prior to starting at Allianz, Sid has worked in the superannuation sector in Hong Kong as well as the health insurance sector in Melbourne. He is currently on the pathway to fellowship with the Institute of Actuaries Australia, and has a BComm majoring in Actuarial Studies and Management from Melbourne University.


Chetana Koganti, Deloitte

Chetana is an actuarial analyst at Deloitte, and has worked with various health insurers and superannuation funds. Getting involved and making an impact within the community is something she is passionate about, and she is excited to use her skills to help aspiring Actuaries on their journey. 

She is also passionate about understanding how the role of an actuary is changing and in particular how young actuaries can develop and apply their skillset in a dynamic, rapidly changing world. 


Veronica Tay, PwC

Veronica has worked across a variety of industries as part of her four years experience at PwC. She has worked in Brisbane, Sydney and Bangkok mainly focusing on Credit Risk Modelling and Data Analytics. Outside of work, Veronica is very active with the Young Actuaries. She was part of the first YAP Brisbane committee and organised several events before moving to Sydney. More recently she has been involved with organising the 2018 YAC Sydney.


Phin Wern Ting. ClearView

Phin Wern Ting is an actuarial manager at ClearView, with experience in valuation and pricing of life insurance products. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a Certified Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA). Phin is also part of the Social Networking Actuaries Group committee. She is keen in promoting the actuarial profession and encouraging actuaries from different practice areas to network outside of work.


Zoe Yang, Millman

Zoe is an actuarial consultant within Milliman’s Australian practice.

Zoe is responsible for Quality Assurance of Milliman’s objectives-based financial advice system, has previously contributed to the technical development of the tool and its implementation across a variety of client projects.
