Forge your own path to qualification

Whether your academic background touches allied domains or you're pursuing a career shift, or even if traditional study wasn't your path at all, the Actuaries Institute values diverse experiences and offers pathways for all aspiring actuaries. It's not about where you start, but the passion you bring to shape a better world.

Pathways for allied tertiary studies

If you've completed maths, finance, economics or business at university, your studies may have covered some of the subjects from an actuarial degree. This means you'll be able to apply to have this study recognised by the Institute, and "exempt" you from doing these subjects again in the Foundation Program.

You will need to complete all other subjects in the Education Program by enrolling in the subjects as non-award study through an accredited university, or by enrolling with the Institute and completing examinations through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).

Pathways for no relevant study or no exemptions

If you haven't undertaken any relevant tertiary study, you will need to complete all Education Program subjects remotely by enrolling with the Institute. To enrol, you will need to join the Institute as a student member.

During the Foundation program, you will complete examinations through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). Examinations for Actuary and Fellowship programs are conducted by our accredited universities and the Actuaries Institute.
