Mission Statement Review Taskforce

The primary aim of the taskforce is:

  • to review the mission statement.
  • to consider changes to the overarching vision statement should it be required, given that the two are linked and should be consistent.

At a Council Meeting on 6 December 2013, the draft consultative review process and proposed membership of the Mission Statement Review Taskforce were approved.

Member Consultation

The Mission Statement Review Taskforce drafted four alternate Mission Statements and consulted members on their thoughts and opinions via a brief and anonymous survey.

Exceeding expectations, over 160 members from a broad demographic provided their thoughts and opinions via a brief and anonymous survey.

The majority of high‑level feedback was positive, while a small amount of feedback was negative/constructive. Concepts that resonated with members included:

  • serving and protecting public interest;
  • provision of professional guidance and support;
  • education and knowledge sharing;
  • resilient to future uncertain events; and
  • inspire and support members.

Areas of concern included the use of ‘motherhood statements’ and the wordiness of some of the straw men statements.

All feedback was considered by the Mission Statement Review Taskforce and a third draft has been designed. Angela Tatarow, a member of the Taskforce discusses their approach in the following video.
