The Actuaries Institute held the General Insurance Seminar at the Hilton Sydney on 17 – 18 November 2014. The Seminar's theme was Insuring Tomorrow.

Tomorrow's world will be very different from today. The global economic landscape is changing, a data and social media revolution is underway, the climatic circumstances are uncertain and governments and regulatory bodies are adapting to the new conditions. We see the effects of these changes in customer behaviour, in the economic environment, in the way we do business and how we relate to each other on micro and macro scales.

The picture is emerging but always hazy. How can the actuarial profession help the general insurance industry insure tomorrow?

The Institute's Enterprise Risk Management Seminar was also held at the Hilton Sydney on 19 November, immediately following GIS2014.
