Your Career: what makes a successful actuary – from people who know

Ever wondered how the actuaries you admire most got to where they are today? We ask experienced actuaries from a variety of backgrounds to tell the story of their success. Is it serial career change or long-term commitment? Broad international exposure or deep specialisation? It’s a session that will help you succeed – because you’ll hear from people who already have.

  • Julia Lessing, Director, Guardian Actuarial
  • Professor Bernard Wong, Head of the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies, University of New South Wales

The real climate change – time to stop talking

Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. In this plenary we explore how Actuaries use their training to manage the risks and reality of climate change. We dive into environmental and business risks, adaptation, reporting and climate change management from traditional and non-traditional actuarial perspectives. Key to this plenary is an exploration of the change actuaries are generating by working with other professions.
