Dr Rami Mukhtar is co-founder and CEO of Ambiata. Ambiata empowers enterprise to understand the truth and consequences of their decisions by rigorously measuring and connecting the customer response with their actions in order to ultimately optimise customer experience and value.  Rami has worked closely with enterprise in telco, banking, insurance, retail and media sectors helping them to transform them from belief driven organisations to data driven ventures.

 

Hugh Miller is an actuary at Taylor Fry, where he has worked since 2006. There he undertakes work for both Analytics and General Insurance. Over the past few years he has had a particular focus on government social services, including the annual valuation of the New Zealand Welfare system. Hugh is also a keen researcher, completing his PhD in statistics at the University of Melbourne in 2010. Topics of interest include combining approaches from statistics and actuarial science, as well as developing methods for individual level modelling of actuarial problems.

 

Uma Joshi joined QBE in December 2014 as the Group’s Senior Manager, Risk Analytics with a focus on providing risk analytics, research and robust reporting to support the Group Risk team in providing a robust second line of defence. This includes leveraging the information and data available to QBE to provide insights on potential risks and opportunities. Prior to this, Uma has worked with J.P. Morgan as Vice President in Equity Research covering Australian Insurance, with Quantium as a Senior Consultant focusing on 'big data' products, and with QBE’s Australian Operations as the Motor Pricing actuary.

Chris Dolman is an actuary who is always looking to do something a bit different. His experience spans Australia and the UK, consulting and corporate, and a range of traditional and non-traditional roles. His curiosity for new horizons has led him to his current role: Director of Data Analytics within IAG Labs, helping to drive data science and advanced analytics across all facets of the business.

 
Mitch Prevett is a Principal at Quantium where he leads the Retail Analytics practice delivering advanced analytics to retailers such as Woolworths and large FMCG suppliers such as Proctor and Gamble, Unilever and PepsiCo. He has deep experience in consulting at a strategic level on pricing and promotions, forecasting, ranging and customer targetting. Prior to his current role, Mitch led the Insurance Pricing practice at Quantium and was central in the development of new approaches in price optimisation, risk modelling and competitor analysis. Before joining Quantium, Mitch qualified as an Actuary whilst working at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he pioneered developments in insurance claim cost estimation.

Rachael McNaughton is an Actuarial Analyst with Towers Watson, where she is currently involved in insurance focused Big Data Analytics projects providing advanced analytics and insights to clients in the insurance industry. Rachael specialised in Machine Learning during her Actuarial Studies and Computer Science degree at the Australian National University, and with a great interest in this area, lead to Rachael tutoring the Introduction to Statistical Machine Learning course at ANU, as well as lecturing the Neural Networks unit.

Kate Box has 20 years marketing and advertising experience with Facebook, Microsoft Advertising UK and client side for Sensis, McDonalds and Tabcorp. She has combined this extensive experience into her 'dream' role in Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook. Kate leads the Retail business in Sydney, working with top Facebook retail clients to develop strategies that will grow foot traffic and drive the basket in the new digital and mobile era.
Daniel Marlay is a Director in EY’s actuarial practice with 16 years’ experience in the application of advanced analytics and data science techniques to support strategic and operational business decision-making. He has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to effectively communicate complex analysis results to leaders in business and government. Prior to EY, Daniel was employed at a number of marketing data organisations.

Aaron Cutter is a Director of Finity, and has over 20 years’ experience working in general insurance. Aaron current leads Finity’s big data analytics practice and is committed to supporting actuaries playing a significant role as the world’s ability to generate, retain and interrogate data explodes. Finity’s analytics and consulting services in this space help organisations better understand their customers and optimise their business strategies and performance.

Vaughan Chandler is the Executive Manager of the newly launched Red Planet business, wholly owned by Qantas. In this role, Vaughan and his team focus on applying the experience generated from running Qantas Frequent Flyer to assist both Qantas and Red Planet’s clients to use loyalty programs and customer data to create sustainable competitive advantage, growth and customer engagement.
