Code Review Taskforce

The Code of Professional Conduct (“Code”) is the keystone of the profession’s governance regime. It articulates the high standards and principles of professional conduct expected of members of the actuarial profession.

The current version of the Code was issued in November 2009 and, following a recommendation of the Professional Standards Committee (PSC), Council has decided that a review of the Code is appropriate.

About the Taskforce

The Code review is intended to be wide-ranging and comprehensive. The Taskforce will report to the PSC and provide periodic updates to Council. It is expected the Taskforce will:

  • consult broadly with all stakeholders and interested parties;
  • review code of conduct developments for the International Actuarial Association, other major overseas actuarial bodies and a sample of other Australian professional bodies; and
  • cover issues such as whether the Code’s application to: (1) overseas Members is functioning as intended; and (2) Members not practising as an actuary is appropriate.
