Public Policy and Media
The Institute provides expert and ethical comment on public policy issues where there is uncertainty of future financial outcomes.
We are viewed by policy-makers as non-partisan thought-leaders and trusted advisors. We bring our evaluation of risk and opportunity to areas ranging from retirement incomes, general insurance, life insurance and wealth management through to health financing and energy and the environment.
Our contributions to public policy are guided by the public interest, together with the principles of transparency, a ‘level playing field’ and good regulation.
We have had significant influence in the development of regulation, financial reporting, risk management and related practices in Australia and in Asia over many years.
We develop policy in close consultation with members, through the Public Policy Council Committee, Practice Committees, Taskforces and Working Groups.
In order to have valuable public policies that truly reflect the views of the profession, we encourage members to take an interest in public policy and to participate in the policy development process through these committee structures.
