Becoming an Associate Member

Associates are Members who have part-qualified towards Fellowship and are usually employed as Actuarial Analysts. Associates are usually university graduates and are provided with a certificate and the use of the letters AIAA after their name. Associates receive the same services as Affiliate Members.

As of January 2010 admission as an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (AIAA) is granted following satisfactory completion of:

  • Parts I and II of the Institute’s education program
  • Completion of the Investment Bridging Course or Course 1 Investments
  • Completion of 3 years Practical Experience Requirement (PER)
  • Completion of a recognised Professionalism Course

NOTE: members who were eligible for Part I and II exemptions before 31 December 2009 are exempt from doing the Investments Bridging Course

All applicants are required to have their application forms signed by two referees, supply copies of qualifications and pay the current joining and membership fees.
