Here are the forms and information you will need to manage your membership.
Becoming a Member
To become a member of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, you must complete our application form and have it signed by two referees. You also need to supply a certified copy of your academic record and pay the required fees.

Renewals
The Institute's membership year currently runs from 1 October - 30 September.
Renewal invitations for the membership year 1 October 2011 to 30 September 2012 will be distributed from 1 September 2011.
Changing your Membership Category
Members who meet the necessary eligibility requirements may apply for transfer to another category of membership.

Resigning your membership
If you decide to resign your membership you need to put this in writing to the Institute. Please be aware that members who default or resign their membership must pay the applicable fee and a re-joining entrance fee before being reinstated.
Reinstatement
Members that have previously resigned or allowed their membership to lapse may apply via email for reinstatement. Contact us if you have any questions about reinstating your membership.
CPD Exemption Request
Professional Standard 1 - Continuing Professional Development (PS1) requires members to complete:
- 40 hours of CPD per calendar year, or
- 80 hours of CPD over two consecutive calendar years, provided at least
20 hours is completed in any one calendar year
A Member who is not providing a Professional Service and is either on extended leave or has special circumstances can apply to Council in writing for an exemption from the requirements of PS1.
