Other Events

In addition the Institute runs a number of networking events and collaborative programs throughout the year. These include the Retired Actuaries' Group Sydney (RAGS) which was established in 2007 by an enthusiastic group of retired actuaries in Sydney. RAGS meets on the first Thursday of each month, excluding January for a light lunch followed by a brief presentation and discussion on a topic of actuarial relevance. Approximately one week prior to each event a short ‘paper’ or briefing note is circulated to the retired NSW members.

The Senior Actuaries’ Forum is an initiative comprising presentations and discussions specially convened for the Senior Actuary of each firm. Senior Actuaries will also have the opportunity to put issues on the agenda and create forums for information exchange and discussion with other Senior Actuaries. Initially these Forums will be held in Sydney and Melbourne, but with the assistance of members based elsewhere this program can be extended.

The Institute has entered into collaborative planning and promotion of CPD events with accredited universities. Events managed by universities such as one-day conferences or regular university seminars are promoted to all members.
