Insights are forums created by members and other professionals for their
actuarial peers. Insights can take a variety of forms, including seminars,
briefing sessions and discussions on key issues. The presenters of the most
popular papers from recent major events are invited to re-present their session
through Insights following the event.
Insights are also convened for visiting overseas Professors, briefings by
Practice Committees and half day workshops on important regulatory issues. The
benefits of Insights for members include:
- Gaining new knowledge
- Exchanging views with colleagues and peers
- Informal networking
- Generating new ideas and thought leadership
- Debating key issues for the profession
Insights are held in Sydney and Melbourne, generally at lunchtime or after
work and run for about an hour. All Sydney Insights are recorded and the audio
file is placed on the website for later access. This is particularly useful for
those members based outside Sydney and Melbourne where most Insights are held.
