Education

The actuarial education program in Australia is made up of three parts and can take some years to complete.

Part I can be completed by studying an undergraduate Actuarial Degree at one of the six accredited Australian universities, or by distance through correspondence with the London Institute of Actuaries or by credit transfer.

Part II of the program, the Actuarial Control Cycle, is an innovative means for learning how to apply actuarial skills to business situations. This program is taught by four accredited Australian universities.

From January 2010 members of the Institute completing Part I, Part  II, 3 Years Practical Experience Requirements, Investment Bridging Course and Professionalism Course can achieve Associateship (AIAA).

The Part III education program is offered through the Institute and builds on the concepts and processes of the Part II Actuarial Control Cycle. This program is offered by distance study using Learning Management System.

After completing Part I, Part II and Part III, students are required to attend the Institute Professionalism Course before becoming a Fellow (FIAA).
