Business Writing Skills Course
While Actuaries are typically good academic writers, their written communication skills often founder when they have to communicate complex issues to time poor, non-actuarial executives. Writing to a broader business audience requires sophisticated written communication skills – beyond academic and technical writing.
The Institute has partnered with Executive Writer, Karen Pryor, to create a highly practical, one day writing course to coach Actuaries in these additional skills. Based on actuarial documents and offering opportunities to assess your strengths as a writer, the course provides strategies, examples and guidelines to help you develop business writing best practice.
About the facilitator
Karen Pryor is an economist and a professional business writer. She also specialises in teaching highly technical and academically well-qualified participants to communicate with non-technical readers. To this end, her writing strategies are based on brain science, linguistic theory and psychology. A graduate of the Jensen Institute of brain-based teaching, Karen’s workshops are dynamic, engaging and highly practical.
