How to Influence Your Key Stakeholders –  1 day CPD course

The ability to effectively engage with and influence your key stakeholders can make the difference between being an important part of the decision making structure of an organisation and just another voice in the crowd, whose ideas are ignored. This course provides you as a practising actuary with a deeper understanding of the views of your key stakeholders and the effect your specific worldview has on your ability to engage with and influence them. This is done in the context of a broad range of risk management forms and an understanding of alternative worldviews held by key stakeholders.

Practical experience in managing stakeholder engagement is provided through the use of role plays with senior industry experts brought in for the course. Extensive use is also made of psycho-metric testing both prior to and during the course to help you gain a deeper understanding of your own worldviews and how comfortable you are with change. In addition, this course provides you with:

  • a detailed perspective on the different risk management styles and their associated dynamic effects in terms of stakeholder influence and engagement;
  • knowledge of the degree of personal challenge you would be comfortable with and the areas around which this challenge would be valuable to your career;
  • knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to risk management, their impact on managing a broader range of risk types relative to the individual’s worldview
  • ability to understand how to interact with stakeholders from alternative perspectives; and
  • new perspectives on the different directions in which you can take your personal career development.
